Sunmin Kim

Age 22, South Korea

Sunmin Kim, a pianist and composer, began his musical journey at age 10. At age 17, he started studying with HaeSun Paik at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 2023, he moved to New York and currently studies at The Juilliard School with Sergei Babayan.

 

Recipient of prestigious awards, Sunmin has achieved notable success in Korean competitions such as the Ewha-Kyunghyang and the Busan Music Competition, as well as international honors such as the Fou Ts’ong International Concerto Competition, among others. A Tan Family Foundation Scholarship recipient at NEC.

 

Sunmin has showcased his piano artistry globally, giving recitals and performing chamber music at venues such as Jordan Hall, Kumho Art Hall, and Seongnam Arts Center. Sunmin also has participated in esteemed festivals and had master classes with Alessio Bax, Alexander Korsantia, Antti Siirala, Lliya Zilberstein, Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri, and Jinsang Lee.

 

Beyond solo performances, Sunmin’s talent extends to choral composition. His choral works have been published by the renowned publishers in US and Korea, andfeatured in recordings by professional choirs. Currently, he works as an orchestra arranger at Sarang Church, under the guidance of Dr. Kisun Lee.
